About Us

All Ugandans have a right to healthy living as well as protection from the anticipated life threatening diseases that emerge and re-emerge from time to time. The Government of Uganda through health services provided by health professionals of both Government and Privately employed holds the responsibility of entirely providing the basic health services to the people. Despite this Uganda does not have enough health workers to meet this need of providing the minimum health package to the people. A study carried out by one concerned official indicated a Nurse patient ratio of 1:3,000 in a one given district, which showed a critical shortage of Nurses, given the demand to healthy service provision. This demand cuts across Uganda as a country and Mbale as a District by then (Sironko, Bududa, Manafwa, Namisindwa, Bulambuli, which a merged from the main Mbale). It is for this reason and obligation of the Government to providing a minimum health package that the Government encouraged provision of services through private bodies as well. Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery was started by Christians of Global Revival Evagelistic Ministries (GREM) after realizing the need of providing health care services to the community especially the poor, the young and elderly through community health services. Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery is a child born after a dream made possible through sharing with other Christians of GREM. The management of GREM appreciated the idea and need of starting a Nursing and Midwifery School since education is one of its objectives as it struggles to contribute towards the Millennium Development Goals, now Sustainable Development Goals. Ministry of Education and Sports granted permission for the school to start in November, 2010. The School was allowed to start with 100 students, the number that could not be realized but 68 was, which dropped to 53 (15 certificate Midwives and 38 certificate Nurses) after verification. The School is a Christian, private funded under GREM, located in Mbale Municipality now Mbale City on Nabuyonga Lane, Mbale City, Eastern part of Uganda. The School has a Board of Directors, Governing council, Principal Tutor, Academic Registrar, Tutors, Administrator, Librarian, Warden and other Support staff. The School has Vision, Mission and Core values.
